Park City in a Campervan

When you think of Utah, Park City is probably one of the main cities that comes to mind. This picturesque mountain town is just 30 minutes from our Salt Lake City campervan rental location and is packed full of adventure and activities all year long. Spring to Fall brings perfect weather for mountain biking and hiking amongst colorful scenery while Winter brings some of the best snow in the country to cover Park City Mountain Resort’s epic terrain.

Winter

This famous mountain town is known for its world-class skiing and snowboarding due to it’s legendary snow quality, but it isn’t the only way to enjoy Park City’s snowy season. From snowshoeing and sleigh riding to dog sledding and window shopping, there are countless ways to venture outdoors in the winter.

The lift tickets and lodging can get a bit pricy in Park City so renting a campervan is the perfect way to save some money and enjoy doing what you love most! Our heated campervans handle great in the snow and we also have 4x4 and AWD options available. Check out the link below to learn more about spots to park your campervan in Park City.

SPRING

Early spring is a great time to enjoy the last bit of winter skiing at the resort. Peak winter crowds have dispersed and lift ticket prices decrease. Although the days grow longer and the temperatures begin to climb, the snow conditions are still favorable in the shoulder season.

As the weather continues to warm, you'll find more hikers and mountain bikers in the area. You can even enjoy the morning on the slopes and enjoy an afternoon hike in the same day. Open air concerts return to the area as the season changes and the night life begins to liven up around the time of Spring Break.

SUMMER

Summer brings gorgeous days in the 70s and comfortable, 50-degree evenings. These welcoming temperatures bring many local Utahns to the mountains to escape desert and valley heat. In addition to hiking and biking, summer is festival season around Park City, with music, food and arts celebrations.

Every weekend of the summer is booked with some kind of sports competition, race, or ride, held on the town’s 400-plus miles of singletrack trails, country roads, or playing fields. Get in on the action and join a race or cheer on the contestants from the sidelines.

*Our campervans have plenty of room for gear and an option to add a bike rack!*

FALL

Fall is shoulder season, with temperatures similar to those in the spring. September can have similar temps as summer's warm days, but by October the temperatures begin dipping into the 40s. Rain appears in September and October which quickly turns into snow by November. September and October are great for hiking, mountain biking, scenic drives or chairlift rides while taking in the fall foliage all around.

Park City’s ski season usually begins in mid-November. This is a good time to snag deals on lodging and ski packages. High holiday prices start kicking in at Thanksgiving

Campervan Camping Options: Spring to Fall

Wasatch State Park Campground is just over the hill from Park City and is your best bet for campervan camping near trails with decent access to Park City. From the campground, the WOW trail and Dutch Hollow trails are ridable from camp, and you're only about a 15 minute drive to the top of Guardsman Pass where you can drop into Deer Valley or hit the Wasatch Crest.

Spruces Campground is located in Big Cottonwood and is about a 30 minute drive, albeit a beautiful one, from Park City. From here, you could easily ride up the road and hit the Wasatch Crest to Mill D trail that would finish near camp. Otherwise, you'll be driving to Park City for additional ride options. Note that Big Cottonwood is part of SLC watershed and does not allow dogs.

Jordanelle State Park offers traditional campground accommodations and is a quick ten minute drive away from Park City. From camp you are a short ride away from Spin Cycle & Village Trails, and could easily loop into the Deer Valley trail system from here. Note that Jordanelle State Park & campground is very exposed and does not offer much in the way of protection from the sun during the hotter summer months.

River's Edge is a private campground and RV resort with great access to the Middle Provo River. While it's geared towards the fly fishing crowd, it's a good option for those traveling in a campervan that's not too far away from Park City. Coyote Canyon and Dutch Hollow trails would be accessible from camp via the rode and Park City is a short 15 minute drive away.

Unita National Forest. The most primitive and remote camping options would be located off the Mirror Lake Highway in the Uinta National Forest.
