Next Step: How to Figure Out Which Level of Management is Right for You and Your Lifestyle

At Wandervans, offer three levels of management for you to select from. There’s no one size fits all in this niche sector of the management sector. Campervans are highly complex and so are their owners, and therefore we’ve attempted to offer some different options to choose from to meet your lifestyle, financial goals, and which also matches up with where you are physically located. We don’t care if you own a Sprinter Van, Ford Transit Conversion Van, Storyteller Van, Outside Van, or any other popular version, we are open to looking at most any make and model to see if they’ll fit our program. The details matter, so let’s dig deeper to help you figure out which option is best for you.

  • Wandervans assists 3rd Party Campervan owners by listing their van for rent on the Wandervans website. Below are the various services that are included in this basic level of management:

    • Our management operators will physically meet with you to tour your van and learn more about your needs.

    • Once you’re ready to move forward, we will List your van on our website and assist with listing creation, photos, vehicle information. We basically do all of the steps necessary to begin offering your van for rent.

    • We will provide instruction templates for you to fill out details on how to operate the systems and equipment in your van. If you get us the primary details we can format and finalize the instruction cards. These will be laminated and provided for customers as a resource and guide when renting your van. This is very similar to such instruction guides you receive when you rent an airbnb.

    • We will assist you with your add on equipment creation and organization. You’ll want to have some basic equipment to offer renters to ensure they’ll have access to everything they might need. You will be responsible for providing this equipment, cleaning it, and storing it.

    • Once your listing is live, we begin marketing your van and do an email blast to introduce the van to our customer base.

    • Our trained staff will also take over the customer service phone calls and emails with prospective customers to get your van rented out.

    • Once your van does rent, we’ll notify you so that you can plan accordingly. Once the reservation date approaches, we’ll coordinate with you to ensure things are ready, and document mileage, condition, equipment add-ons, etc.

    • We relay all necessary information to the customer and they eventually pick up the van from your designated location. We offer a touchless pickup system for our guests, so there does not have to be any meet and greet if you choose not to conduct that part of the service for the guests.

    • Throughout the Guest’s trip our team remains available by phone or email should the customer have any questions or issues while on their trip.

    • We provide the guest with return instructions so that they can drop off the van in the correct location and then conduct all necessary steps required once the van is returned.

    • You inspect the van upon return, submit final mileage and double check your van interior and exterior for any damage that may have occurred.

    • After it’s given the all clear, the van owner is then responsible for taking care of any maintenance, repairs, and cleaning to prepare for the next upcoming rental.

  • Our experienced Fleet managers will conduct the listing assistance PLUS they’ll also offer to conduct some additional services prior to the next rental departure. After each rental there are various things that need to be done in order to prepare for upcoming rentals.

However, this management option hinges on your overall proximity to our rental hub in your region. If you live nearby, this is an easy option, you’d just drop off and pick up the van in between rentals. Easy peasy. If you live too far away from our shop, let’s say 45 minutes, then it's not likely going to make sense for you to drive it back and forth to get cleaning done.

There are some tactics we can use to assist with some of the cleanings. For example, where there are back to back rentals with only a few days in between, we can instruct the customer to pick up at the van owner’s home, but then drop off with us at our Shop upon return. We would then clean and prep the van for the next rental, and the upcoming guest would then pick up the vehicle from our shop instead of the van owner’s home. This may not work in ALL rental situations but could be conceived for many.

Below are the various services that are included in this Partial level of management:

    • After each rental we can offer to conduct the cleaning of the vehicles upon return, and or prior to the next rental departure. This would also include refreshing the clean water and loading up any equipment add-ons into the van. ‘

    • We can optionally conduct the damage inspections after each rental and take any necessary return photos.

    • Provide basic maintenance to refill fluids, fuel, fill windshield rock chips, etc.

    • Replace bedding and hold any bedding and equipment that belongs to the van owner.

    • We can optionally provide all add on equipment for any rentals that occur since the van will be coming back to us frequently. Additionally, we will clean, store, and maintain the equipment so that you don’t have to mess with it.

Our partial management fee has been set at 30% plus we keep the cleaning fees and add on fees. However, due to the complexity and differing locational circumstances in each market, the services can be added in an “A La Carte” manner, and then fees adjusted depending on what is needed by the Campervan owner.

  • Our Fleet manager in your region will take possession of your campervan and add it to their fleet for the entire rental season. There are many van owners that request Wandervans to take full control of their vehicle and have us provide a full suite of management services including: rental, cleaning, storage, customer service, etc.

This level of services includes all of the basic and partial management services, but we actually take possession of your van. Below are the various services and details that are included in our complete management level:

    • We obtain and pay for insurance on your vehicle so that our staff can safely drive your vehicle during the rental season. This is needed to take your van to and from scheduled maintenance, fueling up, or any other reason. The insurance coverage provides assurance that your campervan is safe and sound when we take possession.

    • We take possession of your campervan at the start of the rental season, and after the last rental for the year we ask that you retrieve your vehicle and provide storage in the off season.

    • The van owner will still be responsible for covering all of the maintenance costs, repairs, tires, windshield, etc. Most commonly, the van owner has to be involved when any atypical damage occurs so that they can make the decision on where to have the repairs done, etc.

    • We allow the van owner to block out days/weeks that they plan to utilize their van during the busy rental season. This way you still get to use your van when you want it, but then allow Wandervans to manage it for you while you don’t need it.

    • We are super selective on Campervans that we will take under full management. Our ideal van type is something with low miles, fully operational amenities, and somewhat easy to operate for customers.

    • Our Full Management fee has been set at 38%, but can be adjusted depending on what is needed by the customer. In addition, we keep the cleaning fees and any fees generated by the add on equipment that we provide.

By allowing our Fleet Managers to assist Campervan owners in their respective regions, we are separating ourselves from traditional peer-to-peer rental websites where they aren’t able to offer any hands-on management services. At Wandervans, we will be offering a diversity of Campervan models so that local customers have more options to choose from for their outdoor adventures. So…if you own a van and are tired of doing all of the management, why not let us take over for a while?

Again, we don’t care if you own a Sprinter Van, a DIY build, Revel, Winnebago, Ford Transit Conversion Van, Storyteller Van, Outside Van, or any other popular version, we are open to looking at most any make and model to see if they’ll fit our program. But please be aware that not ALL campervans will be accepted into our programs, and some may only be acceptable for our Listing Only (Option 1) due to location challenges and associated logistics.

Please fill out the application form below and submit your information to be considered for our Consignment program.
