One-Way Travel Program

Fall 2024-Spring 2025

Ever wanted to take a one-way road trip south during the fall, taking in all the amazing sights and fall colors from the comfort of your own vehicle? A campervan rental is a great way to do this as it will allow you to pick and choose where you want to go and stay. It’s really not all that surprising that some travelers want to rent a campervan in only one direction and avoid the long return drive home. The cost of flying vs. driving the vehicle home may actually work out cheaper, plus you save time. With current gas prices being so high, taking a flight home is most often the lower cost option to get back home. When traveling longer distances, does anyone really want to drive all the way back home after a long 400-mile multi-day adventure? Especially if you are with the kids!

A road trip truly is a great way to see the countryside, but typically you must return the RV/campervan to its original location, unless you are willing to cough up the hefty one-way fee. Our new “Wander One-Way” program will allow you to enjoy all the benefits of road tripping, but you get to skip the long drive back home, and with our program you get to avoid the traditional high one-way fees. That’s right, we do not charge any hefty one-way fees that are so common with these programs. One Way = hip hip hooray!

Wandervans is preparing to roll out a new annual program to offer one-way rental opportunities for our customers. With more than 5 rental locations in the western US, we are now able to offer seasonal one-way rentals and will do our best to fulfill as many of your requests as possible. During Winter months, our campervan rental fleet mostly sits idle in northern locations, therefore we are going to be migrating portions of the fleet South and will open a rental hub location in Las Vegas Nevada during the months of Nov-April. This new southern location will therefore offer new travel opportunities and adventures during winter months. Once the vans arrive in Vegas, they’ll be available for anyone looking to explore the area in a campervan and then return the van back to our Vegas location. But, in order to get the vans down there, we need your help!

  • Below you can see our list of cities that we will allow you to pick up your van for departure and alternative locations where you can deliver your van back to after the trip. We will allow you to book any one-way rental from our northern locations (SPO, BOI, SLC) in the Fall of 2024 and drop your campervan off in any location south of where you did not originally pick up your van. So yes, you can go from Boise to SLC, or Boise to LAS, Boise to SFO or Boise to Phoenix. Any location is allowed so long as it is south of where you departed from.

We are also staggering the trip dates that allow customers to start booking, so we can migrate vehicles from the north to the south, and accumulate Wandervans in each city over time, eventually getting them all the way to Vegas. For example, if you rent from our Spokane/Coeur d’Alene location we’ll allow you to drop in any city to the south, so you could drop in Boise, Salt Lake, San Fran, Phoenix or Vegas. You pick what’s best for you!

These one-way rentals will begin in the fall of 2024, which have been intentionally scheduled to coincide with the beautiful fall colors that begin to appear in October. We’ll have 20 vans in total available for this program, but only a pre-set number of vans available for each location, so be sure to book early as we expect plenty of demand for this exciting new program.

All reservations which coincide with the listed dates will not require per-approval. However, if you have preferred one-way travels dates outside of the dates we have listed here, please contact us directly at reservations@wandervans.com, and we will consider other reservation requests on a case by case basis depending on campervan availability and trip duration.

  • In the following table you can see our list of cities that we will allow you to travel from/to during our spring one-way program. This is essentially the reverse of the Fall program design, where we need you to pick up the campervan in Las Vegas at the starting date of March 1 (vans available in other locations at later dates) and drop it off in a northern location of your choice. Therefore, we will allow you to book any one-way rental starting on March 1 from our Southern locations (SFO, LAS) in the Spring of 2025 and drop your campervan off in any of our northern locations (SPO, BOI, SLC). We are staggering the allowed departure dates so that we can accumulate Wandervans in each city over time, thereby allowing them to be rented to a second customer for the rest of the journey. This means that we should have vans available for one-way trips in Salt Lake City by March 15 (possibly earlier), and then vans available in Boise by the end of March (possibly earlier).

Just to clarify things further, if you rent from our Vegas location, we’ll allow you to drop in any city to the north, so you could drop in Salt Lake, Boise, or Spokane. As time passes, we’ll accumulate vans in SLC and BOI, and will then allow customers to book those vans for one-way trips further north to any of our northern locations. We know, it’s a little confusing! Here’s an example of what might happen: a customer books a Wandervan from Vegas on March 1 for spring break, they make their way north and end up in Salt Lake City after an 8-day trip through a few of the Mighty 5 Utah National Parks. That van can then be rented for another trip where a customer wants to travel from Salt Lake to Boise (or Spokane) any time after March 15. This technique of staggering the trip dates allows us to get all the vans back to their original location, as they slowly move north throughout the two-month migration period.

No pre-approvals are required for vans booked from our LAS or SFO locations after the specified March 1 starting date. However, all bookings from our other locations will require pre-approval prior to finalizing the reservation, since we need to confirm that a vehicle will be available at that location on the selected date that you choose.

Not sure where to go on your one-way adventure?

BONUS – Free add-ons are provided!

That’s right, as part of our program we’re providing all vans with a free kitchen kit, set of blankets and pillows and a freestanding awning. This is more than $100 of value to enhance your trip and make sure you have everything you’ll need for your adventure.

Okay wow, that’s a lot to digest right?!! Yes, we understand this can be complicated, but we are working hard to offer a unique travel program to our customers that does not require substantial one-way fees which are so common. This savings is passed on to you, the customer, so you have more funds to spend on your adventure and experiences along the way!

An important thing to keep in mind if you are considering a one-way rental is to book early. This may involve booking your vehicle several months in advance, to secure the size of Wandervan you need, and to reserve the preferred travel dates that you desire. One-way rental is also a great idea if your time is limited. If you only have enough time to travel to your desired destination, a one-way rental will allow you to take your time to get to your destination, see more sights during your trip, and then simply catch a plane flight home. Not to mention, flights to/from Vegas are often very affordable and frequent.

Here's a step-by-step guide to booking your one-way campervan rental:

  1. Plan your trip dates based on the information provided above and select your preferred destination from our listed locations

  2. Determine your ideal van size (Small, Medium, or Large), please watch videos if needed.

  3. Go to our reservation page, select your starting location, then search availability for your van size, based on your preferred travel dates.

  4. During the reservation process, please fill out your destination in the provided field. Be sure to use one of the authorized drop-off locations from our list. This will tell us where you are planning to drop the van off at. Very important.

  5. Select the “Wander One-Way” add-on from our list of add-ons (select other add-ons you’d like, but remember what is already included listed 2 paragraphs above). This selection lets us know that you’re not planning to return to the same location.

  6. Complete your reservation.

  7. If you don’t see any van availability for your selected dates, go to our Wander One-Way Waiting list page and fill out the required information. We will review your request and get in touch with you within 48 hours.

Traveling to the beautiful areas of Southern Idaho, Southern Utah and Nevada is a fantastic experience in the fall and spring. Discovering them in your Campervan is an extremely enjoyable way to accomplish this, and a one-way Campervan Rental gives you the freedom to take your time, forget about rushing and appreciate the things that really matter.

Since vacationers at your destination may be depending on you to complete your trip, certain restrictions apply to all confirmed one-way rentals. This is due to the risk that if you cancel your trip on short notice, the van will not likely arrive at your destination as planned, which could potentially impact the next upcoming reservation. Please understand, our policies are in place to allow us to accommodate as many of both local and one-way customers as possible. Thank you for your understanding and for considering Wandervans for your preferred adventure rental provider.
