Plan Your Adventure!
Yosemite is a bucket-list destination, offering iconic landmarks like El Capitan, Yosemite Falls, and Glacier Point, where you can take in panoramic views of the park. Enjoy the beauty of the Merced River in spring, explore the quieter Hetch Hetchy Valley, or hike the Mist Trail to Vernal and Nevada Falls for an unforgettable adventure. Stay into the evening to witness the stunning night sky, where the stars seem close enough to touch. For even more exploration, Mono Lake and the breathtaking Tioga Pass are just a couple of hours away, offering yet another side of this incredible region.
Glacier Point
Looking for a world-class vantage point? Glacier Point offers one of the most breathtaking 360-degree views in Yosemite, showcasing Half Dome, Yosemite Valley, and beyond. Don’t forget your camera—you’ll definitely want to share this view with your friends!
Mariposa Grove
For those who enjoy feeling small in the best way possible, the giant sequoias of Mariposa Grove are a must-see. These ancient behemoths, some over 3,000 years old, have a way of putting life into perspective like nothing else. Step into their shadow and let your ego shrink—there’s nothing quite like getting lost among the giants.
Tuolumne Meadows
There’s something about Tuolumne Meadows that feels like nature’s own breathing space—a vast, peaceful Pranayama session surrounded by wildflower fields and the gentle sounds of flowing rivers. It’s where you can see the quieter, less-visited side of Yosemite and truly unwind. Honestly, it’s like yoga for the soul—minus the awkward poses!
Vernal and Nevada Falls
Ready for some up-close encounters with waterfalls? Vernal and Nevada Falls are the perfect escape from the heat—and a humbling reminder of nature’s power that puts competition into perspective. Bonus: the Mist Trail will leave you soaked, but honestly, that’s half the fun!
El Capitan
El Capitan is a true marvel to see in person, whether you admire it from one of Yosemite’s many viewpoints or dare to tackle its sheer granite face. For hikers, the trek to the top spans just under 20 miles round trip with a challenging elevation gain of about 5,200 feet. For most, gazing up at this iconic monolith is awe-inspiring, but for extremely experienced climbers, it’s the ultimate challenge.
Hetch Hetchy
Yosemite’s ‘secret’ valley, Hetch Hetchy, is often called the park’s ‘best-kept secret,’ offering the same stunning views as Yosemite Valley but without the crowds. It’s all the beauty of Yosemite Valley with fewer people and a lot more peace and quiet. Visiting Hetch Hetchy feels like stumbling upon a deserted stretch of beach on the Fourth of July—almost unheard of, but incredibly satisfying.
Vanlife Adventures: The Best Way to Explore Yosemite
Why lean into the vanlife? Yosemite’s narrow roads, limited parking, and remote campgrounds make campervans the ideal way to explore. They handle skinny mountain roads with ease, fit into small or reserved parking spots, and still provide the comforts of a bed, fridge, stove, and even a toilet. Unlike bulky RVs, driving a campervan feels more like driving a car than a house, and the better gas mileage is a bonus. When I rented a campervan, it completely transformed my national park experience. I could chase waterfalls both inside the park and off the beaten path, all while having my cozy basecamp with me every step of the way. It’s freedom, convenience, and adventure rolled into one!
