Plan Your Adventure

Some of California’s finest natural wonders await in Kings Canyon. Stand beneath the massive General Grant Tree, drive the stunning Kings Canyon Scenic Byway, or hike Zumwalt Meadow for a peaceful riverside stroll. Feeling adventurous? Take on the rugged Mist Falls Trail. For quiet solitude, head to Road’s End and soak in the canyon’s wild beauty. Wherever you wander, your campervan is ready to take you there.

General Grant Tree

When you visit Kings Canyon—or even just think about it—you can’t miss the General Grant Tree, lovingly known as the ‘Nation’s Christmas Tree.’ This massive giant, one of the largest trees on Earth, feels like something out of another world. Standing next to it, you’re instantly reminded of how small you are, as if you’ve stepped into a mythical forest where time stands still.

Zumwalt Meadow

This is where you come for peace and quiet. Zumwalt Meadow is a dreamy riverside spot for a picnic or boardwalk stroll. It’s so serene, you’ll half-expect Bob Ross to appear, painting happy little trees—no accidents, just perfection. Sit back, breathe it in, and let the stillness work its magic.

Kings Canyon Scenic Byway

Want to drive with your mouth open? The Kings Canyon Scenic Byway is a feast for the eyes, with jaw-dropping cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and deep canyons at every turn. You’ll find yourself pulling over constantly because, trust me, each view feels like it’s begging to be captured. Don’t say I didn’t warn you—it’s the kind of drive that makes you fall in love with the journey as much as the destination.t.

Mist Falls Trail

Fancy a hike? Mist Falls is one of the park’s most beloved trails, and it’s easy to see why. This 9.6-mile round trip takes you through peaceful forests and picturesque meadows, all leading to a breathtaking waterfall that’s worth every step. Sure, it’s a bit of a workout, but don’t worry—the cool mist at the end feels like nature’s version of air conditioning, refreshing you just when you need it most. It’s the kind of hike that leaves you tired, exhilarated, and already planning your next visit.

Road’s End

They say all good things must end, but at Road’s End, the adventure is just getting started. This gateway to Kings Canyon’s wild backcountry feels like stepping into another era—a time when nature ruled and the world was untouched. From here, remote trails and jaw-dropping wilderness beckon, offering a chance to leave the chaos behind and reconnect with something timeless. It’s more than a destination; it’s a feeling, a moment where the past and present collide in the most beautiful way.

Cedar Grove

Cedar Grove, nestled in the heart of Kings Canyon, is the perfect spot to camp, hike, or simply relax under the shadows of towering granite walls. With easy river access, it’s an ideal place to cool off after a long day of adventure. Offering some of the best camping in the park, Cedar Grove makes it almost impossible to leave.

Campervan vs. RV: The Best Choice for Kings Canyon

With arguably the country’s most breathtaking stretch of narrow, winding road—and some of its most stunning scenery—Kings Canyon is the ultimate destination for a campervan road trip. While many travelers choose traditional RVs for their long-term travel perks and cozy movie nights, they can be heavy, unwieldy, and better suited for driving than exploring. Campervans, on the other hand, offer the best of both worlds: the convenience and mobility of a car, combined with the storage and amenities of an RV.

If you’re the kind of person who loves camping at the end of a trail or finding a remote spot miles from the nearest road, you’ll appreciate having a vehicle that can take you there. Campervans are fuel-efficient and quick to set up, so you’ll spend less time at the pump and more time adventuring. They strike the perfect balance between car camping and rugged backpacking, opening up access to deep canyons, alpine meadows, riverside campsites, and hidden corners you might never have discovered otherwise.
