Small and Medium Campervan FAQ?
How many miles are included?
We include 150 miles/day. For example on a 7 day trip we include 1050 miles. You are welcome to go over it is just $0.30/mile for any miles over.
How does drop off and pickup work?
Our pickup and drop off system allow you to pickup the van at the time you need it. Dropoff is by 8pm on the return day and you are welcome to return earlier. Please click here for more info.
What are the insurance options?
Does the campervan have child seat anchors?
The second row of seats in the van has factory child seat anchors for two car seats. In the small and medium vans you must request the second row ahead of time since it is not an item we stock as standard. The small and medium normally only have the two front seats.
Do you provide a heater for when the campervan is turned off?
We can provide an optional propane or electric heater depending on where you are camping. The electric heater does require an external 110V power source. The electric heater is a great option during the shoulder season while staying in state parks or rv parks.
Does the campervan have A/C (Air conditioning) when turned off?
The campervan has A/C while driving and while the engine is running. Once the engine is turned off there is no air conditioning. If air conditioning is important for your trip you have a couple of options. First option is to sleep at a higher elevation where temperatures are cooler. On a sunny day going up 1000ft decreases temperature by 5.4 degrees F, so the higher you go the cooler you will feel. Second option is to rent one of our A/C units and stay at a campsite with plug in power outlets. Third option is to find a campsite with more shade. Parking your campervan out of the sun reduces solar radiation and will make you and your campervan cooler.
Do I have to return the van with a full tank of gas?
Can the fridge be run while the van is off?
Yes. The fridge is smart and provides protections for the battery. Please make sure not to modify the settings on the fridge.
How long can you run the fan?
The fans can be run overnight, but we do recommend turning them off when they are not in use.
Does the van need to be plugged into external power?
No our vans are all self contained and all lights and powered items are run off the house batteries.
Are there charging ports for phones?
Yes there are a number of usb and 12V ports scattered around the van.
What is the bed size in the campervan?
Small - Queen Bed that sleeps 2 people.
Medium - Queen Bed that sleeps 2 people
What are the dimensions of the campervan?
Length - 238 inches (19.8ft) Height- 83 inches(6.9ft)
Where is the fuel tank in the campervan?
Open the driver’s door and it will be the small door near the bottom of the seat.
Do the headlights turn off automatically in the campervan?
If the light knob is in the auto position the headlights will turn off automatically, otherwise you will need to manually turn off the headlights.
Do the cabin lights go off by themselves in the campervan?
They will turn off after about 30 minutes with the doors open or if the doors are closed and you hit the lock button. Each cabin light also has its own individual switch and can be controlled from the front switch.
Is there a spare tire in the campervan?
Yes the spare tire is located in the back and is accessed by using the jack under the passenger seat. There is a port in the rear of the van which will allow you to lower the spare.
Where is the kitchen and fridge in the campervan?
The kitchen is located up front next to the bed and the the fridge is directly behind the driver.
How does the water work in the campervan?
Simply pull down on the lever next to the faucet a couple of times. It may take a couple extra pumps if the faucet has not been used in a while.
How do you cook in the campervan?
All cooking should be done outside.
Where is the table in the campervan?
You will find the fold up table in the small black bag. First you will spread out the legs and then fold out the table top and connect them up.
Do we need to clean the campervan before returning?
There is a cleaning fee. Large amounts of mud and dirt on the floors and seats will result in a special cleaning fee. Anytime the van is driven on dirt roads you are required to return it clean.
Is there an awning in the campervan?
You can request an awning at booking.
If we use the dishes and silverware do we need to clean them in the campervan?
Yes all dishes and silverware should be washed for the next guest.
Is there a screen door in the campervan?
Yes look in the glove box of the campervan and then the screen door will magnet over the open doors.
Does the campervan have heat when the engine is not running?
Yes we offer a propane heater or for those with access to electricity we can include an electric heater.
Is smoking or drugs use allowed in the campervan?

Do you offer Airport pickup/drop off?
We cannot provide airport transportation or provide pickups or drop offs at the airport. However, Wandervans is located about 10 minutes from the airport so it is quick and easy to use a rideshare such as Lyft or Uber to get to your van. Please type in wandervans into your Lyft or Uber app and this will allow your driver to take you to our location.
When is pickup time?
Wandervans uses a super convenient self checkout pickup and drop off system that allows you to pick up your van any time you would like. We will send you your custom access code as soon as your van is ready to be picked up. If your van is returned to us early enough the day prior to your scheduled pickup we will email you your access code as soon as your van is ready so that you can pick your van up as early as you would like the day of your scheduled pickup. If the van is returned to us too late at night the day before your pickup we will do our best to have it ready for you by 9:30 am. We will still email you as soon as it is ready if this is the case.
How do I add a Verified Driver?
To add a verified driver please open your reservation confirmation email and scroll down to where it says “Booking Info.” There will be a thumbnail photo of the van there. Next to “Booking Info” will be the words “View Reservation” in blue. Click on “View Reservation” and scroll down to where it says “Verified Drivers.” Click on the “Verified Drivers” tab and follow the prompts there to add a driver.
How do I upload a photo of my Driver’s License?
To upload a photo of your license please open your reservation confirmation email and scroll down to where it says “Booking Info.” There will be a thumbnail photo of the van there. Next to “Booking Info” will be the words “View Reservation” in blue. Click on “View Reservation” and scroll down to where it says “Verified Drivers.” Click on the “Verified Drivers” tab and follow the prompts there to upload a photo of your driver’s license. Once your photo is uploaded it can take a few days to review so I suggest doing this as soon as possible.
Do you have customer group discounts or other discounts?
We strive to provide the best possible value to our customers everyday. Because of this we do not offer any special discounts to any particular group of customers.
Can I use my CPAP Macine in a Wandervan?
Since CPAP machines are a medical device we cannot recommend plugging them into a Wandervan for use. Since everything in the van is powered off batteries with charge levels that vary depending on usage we cannot guarantee enough charge in the batteries all of the time to guarantee proper operation of a medical device.
Do you have a 3 day minimum rental?
Wandervans have a 3 day minimum on rentals. Wandervans are rented on a per calendar day basis not on an hourly or nightly basis.
What happens if the oil change message comes on while driving the campervan?
Oil changes for all of our Ford campervans are based on driving habits and not mileage since the van uses an oil life sensor. Since oil life is determined by a sensor we do not have specific defined intervals. If you are on a rental and the oil change message comes on while driving then you can drive 500 more miles before an oil change is required. If your trip is ending shortly then no action is required. If you will be driving more than 500 miles before the end of your trip then you can contact us or get an oil change performed using a full synthetic oil and then simply send us the receipt for reimbursement.
